SLOVENIA.

Restaurant MURKA, Lake Bled

A wonderful homely restaurant with a cozy interior and delicious Slovenian cuisine. The restaurant owner, Jože, is happy to meet the guests and to help you decide on the dishes.
Among the dishes of Slovenian cuisine at this restaurant I would especially recommend you the dishes with mushrooms - the taste is very rich, as the mushrooms picked in the Alpine mountain forests near the lake. Delicious mushroom soup (porcini, chanterelles and other local mushrooms), beef tenderloin in mushroom sauce, polenta with roasted porcini mushrooms and gorgonzola (and many more) - the choice is yours!

LJUBLJANA -

The European Green Capital 2016

The capital of Slovenia was awarded the title for its educational activities in the field of ecology among citizens, its sustainable development strategy, its implementation of environmental projects and initiatives in the city and its impressive network of green transport. The title European Green Capital is established by the European Commission and the title is awarded annually by the decision of environmental experts and a jury. Six years ago, the European Commission recognised the important role of sustainability and launched the initiative “Green Capital of Europe”, similar to the “European Capital of Culture”. Back then, Stockholm was the first to become the "green capital" in 2010. A total of 12 cities were competing for the title of European Capital of 2016. Environmentally friendly Ljubljana won the final and was named the best among the worthy contenders: Essen (Germany), Nijmegen (Netherlands), Oslo (Norway) and Umea (Sweden).

Ivan Mestrovic was the eminent, most famous and celebrated Croatian artist and sculptor of 20th century. While in Zagreb, you should definitely visit his studio - Mestrovic bought this house in the early 1920s and turned it into a modern studio. To date, the atelier houses a large collection of his works in bronze, wood and stone, as well as sketches, which he made while preparing new creatuibs. In the garden, a part of the exhibition is located in the open air gallery.
